Two-Day Uniform Grants Guidance Training

By popular demand, we have added more dates for our “Navigating the OMB Super Circular” training! Learn how to safely navigate the key administrative requirements, cost principles, and audit standards, under the Office of Management and Budget’s Uniform Grants Guidance (a.k.a. the “Super Circular”) in Denver, Colorado, on October 11-12, 2018.

Make sure that your organization is in compliance with current grants management rules by attending this special edition of “Navigating the OMB Super Circular.”  The OMB’s Uniform Grants Guidance (more commonly called the “Super Circular” or the “Omnicircular”) created a new framework for managing Federal grants and subawards.  However, the Super Circular was never intended to be static, and the Uniform Grants Guidance has undergone revisions and additions since its initial publication and continues to change.  Navigating these evolving requirements is difficult, but failure to meet the Super Circular’s standards (even unintentionally) can have serious consequences for you and your organization.  Noncompliance can result in repayment of grant funds, loss of grant funding, ineligibility for future awards, and criminal prosecution.  However, our two-day training in Denver on October 11 and 12, 2018, will help you and your organization stay on the right path and avoid the major pitfalls in managing grants and subgrants under the Uniform Grants Guidance.  During “Navigating the OMB Super Circular,” we will explore the Super Circular’s grants management requirements, discuss recent grants management developments and how they affect you, and identify potential problems and explain how you can prevent them.

By attending this special, two-day training opportunity in Denver, you will learn how to better navigate the OMB Super Circular’s complex requirements and avoid common compliance issues.  This updated training will provide detailed explanations of the Uniform Grants Guidance’s key rules for all types of grant-funded organizations, including nonprofits, colleges and universities, hospitals, tribal entities, and state and local government.  At the “Navigating the OMB Super Circular” training conference in Denver, you will learn about the following topics:

  • Changes to the OMB Super Circular and what grantees need to do to stay in compliance;
  • Recent developments in the field of grants management;
  • Administrative standards under the Uniform Grants Guidance;
  • Unified cost principles under the Super Circular and rules for charging costs to Federal grants;
  • Financial management system standards;
  • Internal control requirements;
  • Procurement and property management standards, including changes to the micro-purchase and small purchase limits;
  • Records retention and access rules;
  • Grant closeouts and later adjustments;
  • Funding source remedies and enforcement actions;
  • Differences between indirect and direct costs;
  • Special rules for allowability of certain items of cost under the revised cost principles;
  • Time and effort documentation standards;
  • Prior “written” approval requirements;
  • Single Audit Act audit requirements under Subpart F (formerly OMB Circular A-133) of the OMB Super Circular;
  • Key differences between the OMB’s Super Circular (Omnicircular) and awarding agencies’ implementing regulations for the Uniform Grants Guidance;
  • Consequences of fraud, abuse, and other violations of grants management requirements under the Super Circular;
  • Answers to frequently asked questions about the Uniform Grants Guidance; and,
  • Common compliance issues under the Uniform Grants Guidance and how to avoid them.

The “Navigating the OMB Super Circular” training will look at these issues and more to give you the up-to-date information about grants requirements that you need to manage your Federal grants and subawards more effectively, whether your organization is a direct grantee, subrecipient, or pass-through entity.  You will also have multiple opportunities during both days (October 11 and 12, 2018) of the Denver training to ask and get answers to your individual questions about the OMB’s Uniform Grants Guidance and grants management, generally.
